We are all given gifts by God, and are called to use these gifts in our daily lives. Take the medical profession as an example.
Doctors have the gift of healing. To exercise this gift properly, they must first undergo long years of training. After graduation, they devote themselves to healing the sick. This means long and difficult hours in their office and in hospital. True, they receive good pay. Their greatest reward, however, is to see their patients’ health improve.
This example helps us to appreciate the readings for this 22nd Sunday, year A. The truth is that all of us are gifted by God both in our natural and spiritual lives. And all of us are called to be of service to others.
